A workshop was invited by the Ministry of Justice of Armenia and Transparency international Anticorruption Center (TIAC) on July 29, 2015 to discuss private sector’s current challenges. The aim of the gathering was to engage business as one of the 13 pillars of the National Integrity System in active fight against corruption. The participants emphasized the need for restoring public trust and developing anticorruption schemes to involve business sector as well in fight against corruption. The workshop, funded by the European Union, in addition to state institutions, NGOs, international organizations and media outlets brought together mobile operators in Armenia, banks, mining companies, small and medium entrepreneurs who presented their internal policies and procedures of working transparently and fighting corruption.

The capacity audience was welcomed by opening remarks delivered by Suren Krmoyan, RA Deputy Minister of Justice and National coordinator for anticorruption programs, Alessandro Zanotta, Economic Governance and Public Administration Reforms Adviser, EU Delegation to Armenia and Varuzhan Hoktanyan, Executive Director of Transparency International Anticorruption Center.

Khachik Harutyunyan, TIAC Anticorruption Expert addressed the role and mission of private sector in the fight against corruption within the context of international legal tools and standards and the required conditions for the proper functioning of the private sector in the National Integrity System. Artak Manukyan, TIAC Public Procurement Expert presented the current situation of the private sector in Armenia’s National Integrity System based on the findings of the conducted research.
