Transparency International Anti-corruption Center Statement on the International Day on the Fight against Corruption
December 9, 2011, Yerevan - On December 9, 2003 the United Nations declared that day as the International Day on the Fight against Corruption. Every year on that day all individuals and organizations fighting with their words and their deeds against corruption, summarize and reflect on their achievements and setbacks in that struggle, as well as those of their societies and governments.

An arson attempt at Shirak branch office of Sakharov Human Rights Protection Center
Some unidentified persons through metal bars smashed the windowpane of Shirak branch Gyumri office of A. D. Sakharov Armenian Human Rights Protection Center at about 5 A.M. on July 6, 2011 and set its window and windowsill on fire with liquid fuel. People living in close vicinity of the office who saw the fire called the fire brigade and took their own measures to extinguish it, which was eventually put out. In the course of examination, it turned out that some of the property of the training auditorium and the hall of the office as a whole was significantly damaged, the repair cost of which exceeds 600,000 AMD.

Statement on A1+ TV case
A number of NGOs, including Transparency International Anti-Corruption Center came up with a statement, which reads, "On June 10, 2011 the Resolution CM/ResDH(2011)39 on execution of the June 17, 2008 judgment of the European Court of Human Rights on the case of "Meltex" LLC versus Republic of Armenia was released. The Resolution was adopted at the June 8, 2011 Meeting of the Ministers’ Deputies by the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe.

Statement summarizing results of the conference "Aarhus in Armenia: Evaluation by the Public" held in Yerevan, Armenia on May 20, 2011
The Republic of Armenia has signed the UNECE Convention on Access to Information, Public Participation in Decision-Making and Access to Justice in Environmental Matters (Aarhus Convention) in June 1998 and ratified it in May 2001. The Convention entered into force in October 2001. Towards the observance of 10th anniversary of entering into force of the Convention and the 4th Meeting of Parties in Chisinau on June 29-July 1, 2011, the interested non-governmental organizations issue a statement to articulate the assessment of the public of the fulfillment of committments of the Republic of Armenia under the mentioned Convention.

Statement on World Environment Day
In accordance with Article 10 of the Republic of Armenia Constitution "The state shall ensure the protection and reproduction of the environment and the reasonable utilization of natural resources". The Republic of Armenia has joined a series of international environmental conventions and adoped a national environmental action plan. The state structures responsible for the environmental protection are getting hundreds of millions of dollars from the foreign organizations every year and submit to those reports on the fulfillment of obligations by the country.

Herewith we, the undersigned following the processes of the criminal charges filed February 23, 2011 against Tigran Postanjayan, currently arrested, brother of Zaruhi Postanjyan, Member of "Heritage" Party of the RA National Assembly note the following: there is a political retribution against opposition representative and her family member by initiating a criminal case. The criminal charges against Tigran Postanjyan have been initiated by harsh violations of RA legislation and international norms and standards.

Civil society organizations' public demand
Transparency International Anti-corruption Center joined a number of civil society organizations' public demand to Serzh Sargsyan, which reads, "It is already the 8th day that the Republic of Armenia's citizen Raffi Hovannisian, (the leader of the "Heritage" party, member of the National Assembly and the first Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia) is on hunger strike, thus ringing an alarm and demonstrating his protest of the current state of affairs of our nation and the endangered future of Armenia.

Condemnation Letter from NGOs
On February 18, 2011 a criminal prosecution was initiated against Tigran Postanjyan, the brother of RA National Assembly oppositionist lawmaker Zaruhi Postanjyan. This information was disseminated by an unofficial source and the Prosecutor General's Office website.Four days later Tigran Postanjvan was arrested by the National Security Service of Armenia, which, according to the Armenian Criminal Code, does not have authorization to conduct such an investigation on the charges that were brought against him.
